Ooooh, Your Bag is SO clutch!

A fool-proof guide to the season’s hottest accessory

These days it seems like anything goes; what's "in" could be what's "out" tomorrow and it doesn't seem like there is a definite pattern in trends lately. No longer can we point a finger solely at the over-sized bag as an of-the-moment sensation. If you don't like the larger than life satchels that dominated the runway, designers have created an alternative teeny clutch to cart your equally teeny accessories (slim phone, iPOD nano and 3-in-1 eye-shadow, lipstick and blush).

Style.com makes things easy by picking out the top ten looks of the season. Easy? Try again! In regards to handbags, one of the looks is "minimizing." Four looks later, we are told to "super size" in case "small isn't your style." The message is clear- use the trends to create your own style. Here, you'll find an array of bags starting from the more reasonably priced ones in department stores to the pricier high-profile ones from the runway.

For a conservative, uptown look, Ralph Lauren's Ricky bag is beautiful but pricey. The alligator bag is $14,000 and the calf-skin bag is $3,000 (Ralphlauren.com). For a less-expensive version, Banana Republic is carrying the Somerset croc-embossed large satchel for $278 (Bananarepublic.com). Made of leather, not alligator it's a lot trendier for the younger crew (with its brass hardware and larger size). If you're feeling a bit daring, go for the red one instead.

Structured bags were all over the runway. Dolce & Gabbana and Calvin Klein both had them but it doesn't mean you have to break the bank. To combine the look with another major trend (metallic) grab Mondani's croc-embossed tote for $38 (victoriassecret.com) in silver or gold.

If you're a downtown girl, check out the Basketweave Hobo ($25.80, forever21.com). It is totally slouchy, and it has a lot going on (pattern, color, size and tassels) without being over the top. Lanvin's Kansas Patent tote ($1,995, barneys.com) proves purple can be hot and trendy and not a thing of the past, as does Julie K.'s Alice bag ($429, couturecandy.com). With fall's dark colors, you'll need an accessory to make your look pop.

Needs more pics of the actual bags! :)
But yes, clutches are key.
Target actually has some really cute ones for cheap 15-20$.
