They don't even need to speak English to make girls' hearts skip a beat they can just do it with their music. International superstars Tokio Hotel are taking the music world by storm, literally. Formed in Magdeburg, Germany in 2001 Tokio Hotel has already scored four No.1 singles, two No.1 albums and has sold nearly three million albums and DVD's across the Atlantic.
Tokio Hotel's message driven U.S. album debut is set for release in 2008 and listeners will hear why the band is so popular over seas. They released their first U.S. single exclusively to the rock-hipster store Hot Topic in September containing the tracks "Scream" and "Ready, Set, Go!" that have achieved immense popularity in Europe.
Tokio Hotel's very first album, released in Europe, was recorded when the band mates were young teenagers. Since then the band has broken down cultural barriers and has created absolute chaos in Spain, Italy, Russia and France (they even had a crowd of a half a million chanting along to their songs in front of the historical Eiffel Tower).
Now, for the first time, Tokio Hotel will be able to hear their lyrics sung back to them in English. Although the band learned to speak English in school, they still write songs in their native German and then translate them into English. Their first U.S. album is actually a combination of hits from their previously released two German albums, Schrei (Scream) and Zimmer 483 (Room 483) have been translated into English and re-recorded, blending their sound of melodic rock, with power anthems accompanied by head banging guitars.
Lead singer, Bill Kaulitz says that it has always been a dream of theirs to make it in the U.S., and also says that the band grew up listening to American rock music like Metallica, Green Day and The Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
Tokio Hotel is more than ready to rock America; it's only a matter of time before the hysteria follows them stateside. Their first single off their second album Zimmer 483 (Room 483), called "Ready Set Go," was released in January 2007 and quickly reached No.1 across the pond. The band can only hope to keep the streak alive in the U.S. Tokio Hotel already has their home country at their feet, so it won't be long before the rest of the world falls too.
