Did you ever feel like your life was like a television sitcom? In K Smith's case, the storyline hit so close to home it's scary.

"West Philadelphia born and raised..." is the infamous opening credits to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air starring Smith's Uncle Will. The nephew of box office superstar and Grammy Award winning rapper, Will Smith, K Smith is intimately acquainted with the character his uncle made famous on television. He is the real Fresh Prince.

If you have watched the show, then you know the story. Will gets into some trouble and his mother sends him to live with his Aunt and Uncle in Bel-Air. In the sitcom, however, Will's Uncle Phil and Aunt Viv weren't huge Hollywood stars.

Like his sitcom counterpart, Smith began acting up and hanging out with the wrong crowds while roaming the streets of Philly. But it was when he moved to the west coast that Smith made his career official; he wasn't living the high life in Bel-Air like his uncle's alter ego he was going to be living in L.A.

"In L.A. everyone is workin' to try to do something," Smith says. "I said that I'm gonna do what I love and I am gonna do it well, so that it doesn't feel like work."

When Smith moved into his Uncle Will's house, he finally got on the right path. Smith says that watching his uncle perform and seeing the crowd's reaction to him is what made him want to rap. He says that he knew he loved to rap when he was still living in Philadelphia but the move put everything into perspective.
