Unless you've been living in a cave for the past few years, everyone has seen at least one Steve Carell movie. Most, if not all, of his movies hinge upon his ability to spout hilarious one-liners without even trying. Dan in Real Life still features some classic Carell humor, but the focus of the movie is more about lessons in life as opposed to simple gags and raunchy jokes.
Dan in Real Life is about weekly columnist Dan Burns (Carell), and his family. Dan is the father of three girls; Jane (Alison Pill), Cara (Brittany Robertson) and Lilly (Marlene Lawston). He's a single father trying to deal with situations such as Jane learning to drive and Cara falling in love with a guy. The only one who he still feels listens to him is his youngest daughter Lilly.
Dan and his three daughters end up going to his parent's house for their family reunion. While there he decides to go to a bookstore to calm down and to think about things.
It is here that he meets a lovely woman, Marie (Juliette Binoche) who mistakes him for an employee. They initially hit it off and talk for hours. Later on in the night Dan's brother Mitch (Dane Cook) introduces his girlfriend, who turns out to be Marie.

completely caught off guard finding out about Marie! In the
theater everyone was laughing out loud at parts and then sniffling
at other parts, it really had your emotions. I would highly
recommend it!
