Hollywood has an annoying tendency to mess up amazing stories that reality already scripted for them. Luckily, these films got it right. All of the dynamic folks below impacted history in their own way, and they all made pretty good film subjects, too. Check out our picks for the past decade's most bitchin' biopics, and pay your respects.
Selena (1997)
Based on: Selena Quintanilla Perez
Played by: Jennifer Lopez
Fun fact: Known for being the fastest produced biopic ever, the film had full support from the Perez family with Selena's father Abraham as executive producer.
At first, the news of a Puerto Rican actress portraying a Mexican American ticked off activists, but it proved to be J. Lo's breakout role that put her career on the fast-track to stardom. The movie is based around the rapid success of Selena's singing career up until her tragic death at the hands of the president of her fan club in 1995.
Donnie Brasco (1997)
Based on: Joseph D. Pistone
Played by: Johnny Depp
Fun fact: The $500,000 bounty for Pistone's head that appears at the end of the credits has since been rescinded by the Mafia.
Based on the true story of the FBI agent that managed to infiltrate the Bonanno crime family, Johnny Depp's research for the film included several meetings the agent himself, Joseph Pistone. In the movie, Pistone gets so caught up in his cover as gangster wanna-be Donnie Brasco that it eventually consumes his entire life.

stray away from the actual history; however, it focused more on
the Marie herself... who she was. And it was only suppose to focus

never proven that Marie said "Let them eat cake." That was just a
rumor that may or may not be true.
