While some video games dive into the realm of dragons, magical beings and talking animals, there has been a recent trend to a more realistic style of gaming. It turns out that controlling the everyday lives of simulated people can be even more exciting than battling mythical beasts.

Although games based in the fantasy world have been an appeal to gamers for years, many game developers have focused their attention on everyday life gaming. Games focusing on careers such as cooking or childcare may seem a bit strange and boring, but these games have an appeal that leaves gamers wanting more.

Originally for the PC, The Sims has brought excitement to the prospect of everyday life. Allowing your Sim to grow, learn, have a family and progress in life to be successful, people around the world have delighted in "playing God" for their own personal Sim.

The newest version of the game is called The Sims 2 Castaway, and is available for the Wii, PSP, Nintendo DS and the Playstation 2. In this game, your Sims are stranded on a deserted island and must learn to fend for themselves in order to survive. By helping your Sims meet their needs, using skills such as fishing and crafting, your goal is to create a livable place for your Sims or help them escape back to civilization.

Reality sims aren't a new gaming trend. These kind of games have
been popular for years, it's just that gaming in general is now
more mainstream so people are noticing more genres of games.

lives....
I meant The Sims 2.
isn't really a focus of the game.

I wonder how effective a game can really be at teaching you to be
a babysitter....
