Did you ever make a photocopy of a photocopy and the image becomes fairly distorted from the original, and then you photocopy the second copy and the image is almost completely different from the original? That is what Faber Drive sounds like. They are not just derivative but they are derivative of the bands that are derivative of the original derivative bands. To the point that comparing them to original punk bands like The Clash is completely ridiculous. This doesn't mean the band is bad per se, in fact, it might actually mean the opposite.

The band is far from original, they sound like Sr-71 mixed with Sr-71 but with a "fresh" 2007 perspective. The only thing that separates them from the rest of the spikey-haired pack is their Canuck background. Immediately, this brings to mind an equally as indistinct band also from Canada, the almighty Nickelback. The two bands offer a perfect SAT-level analogy: Nickelback is to Grunge as Faber Drive is to Pop-punk. This is why it should be no surprise that Faber Drive was actually discovered by fugly Nickelback lead-singer Chad Kroeger.
