Lights are shining on you as you stand in line staring at the many people in the stands, who are now surrounding you. The whistle blows as the entire band marches out onto the field. Excitement breaks over the crowd then quickly silences as you and your friends snap your instruments up and get ready to play the first song. The rush? You know that some of these people came just to see you.
I spent eight years playing in a band as an alto saxophone at Mcloud High School. That is where I met most of my friends. For six years, I played in the marching band and for five years I was a member of the Jazz band at school. I dedicated my entire life to be a band geek and I am extremely proud of it. I sat down and interviewed a collection of my friends who were in band with me to sum up what it is really like to be a band geek.
