Ja Rule lives by one quote, "When it comes to that time, make sure your life is worth watchin'." A little morbid, maybe, but it is more inspirational than morbid. If there is one thing that you can say about Ja Rule, his life is worth watching. The Hollis, NY native seemed unstoppable in 2001 with his mega mainstream success, you know that little hit, the "I'm Real" remix with the bootylicious Jennifer Lopez as well as many duets with an up and coming singer (now a star in her own right) Ashanti plus many of the rappers solo efforts raced to the top of the charts. It's been awhile since we have seen the muscularly tattooed rapper with hits as big as "Always on Time," "Mezmerize" and "Put it on Me." But fret not, Ja Rule's highly anticipated new album titled The Mirror will be out in January of 2008, after some career hang up's like the 50 Cent debacle and The INC's raid a few years ago, it will be nice to see the RULE in a new light, a light he is more comfortable with...music.
"It's an incredible album, there were a few issues but we are ironing them out," Ja Rule says sitting back in his chair at his second home, The INC Records.
Some of the "issue" that has been reported is the clearing of a Beatles sample that Ja remixed for his song "Father Forgive Me." Although attempting to achieve the rights to a Beatles sample is like trying to find a needle in a haystack, it seems to be working out. Ja's "Father Forgive Me" features not the original Beatles samples, but rather a reworked version of "Eleanor Rigby." According to MTV News, to get a Beatles sample cleared a recording artist would have to go through three different license holders and also give up all songwriting royalties, so technically Ja Rule's song "Father Forgive Me" belongs to the mop top quartet, or the two remaining members.
