One thing that many people think about when winter comes along, are the many Holiday's that follow. Holiday's are always the best time to spend some time with the ones you love and care about. It is the best season to be proud and happy of everything you have. So why is it the most popular time for depression?

Depression is very serious in many aspects, but it can be treated. Depression has warning signs, symptoms, and medications. There is hope for those who know someone or who are experiencing depression yourself. Understanding what depression is should be the first step that everyone should do in case they or someone they know experiences it.

The first thing to understand is what causes depression. Some forms of depression are actually genetic, meaning it runs in the family. Other factors can include stress at work or school, problems with family or other loved ones, and also people with low self esteem or lack of confidence. The best way to help someone is to watch and listen to the warning signs.

Warning signs and symptoms of depression are very important to pay attention to when someone is in danger of being depressed. Some warnings signs can include: changing of the normal moods, lack of energy, insomnia, loss of interest in different things, social withdrawal, or changes in their thought patterns. When you notice changes, start asking questions. Let your friend or family member know that you care about what is happening to them. Symptoms might include: aches and pains, changes of appetite or weight, and being easily annoyed with everything.
