The night of November 20, 2007 will be a night to remember for sure. It was the night I was introduced to some great new talent, and it was the night I got stranded in New York City. But I digress, when Kiwibox gave me the assignment to cover American Idol alum Elliot Yamin's concert at the Highline Ballroom, I jumped at the chance. I was intrigued by Yamin, as well as the opening acts The Last Goodnight and Josh Hoge.

The Highline Ballroom is a quaint, clean and "up and coming" venue, and has played host to some of music's biggest stars like Amy Winehouse, Santana, Paul McCartney and Queen Latifah. When we walked in, Josh Hoge was already on stage and singing away. Hailing from Nashville, Tennessee Hoge only let on a slight southern accent when he talked. My friend and I agreed that he reminded us of Justin Timberlake and Robin Thicke with his smooth falsetto voice and passionate lyrics. One of the songs that caught my ear was a song called, "Try" and his cover of "Ain't No Sunshine." His voice possessed so much soul, it blew me away. Normally I'm not impressed with opening acts as a whole; it is very rare that I am made a fan.

Next up, was the reason I was really there, The Last Goodnight. Kurtis John made a grand entrance after the rest of the band started playing "Poison Kiss." They continued into "Good Love," where John showcased some Mariah Carey hand moves.

"Man, it's hot up here," he said and proceeded to take off his leather jacket.

"One Trust," was the third song in the lineup, this song was featured on The Hills over the summer and sounded the best so far, John seemed more confident now and even added some commentary about how his father was the inspiration for the song.
