Kate Nash grew up in Harrow and when she was a kid, she became interested in music and began to play the piano. Her music ambition went further when she was required to write songs for her class in Music and her time studying at the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology. Although, Nash's first love is acting, she was refused entrance to the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, to make matters worse the day she was rejected she fell down a flight of stairs, breaking her foot.
During her recovery Nash was unable to move. She utilized her time by focusing on her songwriting. She began to write some new songs, finished old ones and decided that she would book herself a gig at a local bar to perform her songs. A career in music seemed like the right path to take for her.
After a few local gigs Nash uploaded her music MySpace, Lily Allen put Nash in her Top 8, causing Nash's page to be seen by potential fans. Nash's career began to snowball, her music was well-received by MySpacers and she soon found herself a manager.
