Like the Kennedy's, the Hilton's and the Royal family, the Jackson's are no stranger to controversy. The youngest of the bunch flew low under the radar, relatively speaking, until the Superbowl Half-Time Show boob debacle. One failed album later, Jackson is hoping that everyone (including the media) has moved past the "incident" and can focus on another part of her being, her voice (which was never that impressive anyway). As I made my way up to music head honcho L.A. Reid's office, I couldn't help but feel like I forgot something.
Something was definitely missing.
Notebook? Check.
Pencil? Check.
Cell phone? Check.
A boombox and a folder full of songs to sing my little heart out, so that I may be signed to Island/Def Jam Records and start a fabulous music career? Dang, I forgot that. It's OK though, I was there for a different purpose, Janet "Right Boob" Jackson's exclusive listening party.
Reid smiled as the music journalists piled into his office. "Good to see you," he said to me. I returned the favor with a smile and suddenly Pink came to my mind, "L.A. told me you'll be a pop star...all you have to change is everything you are." I moved on down the line and took a seat on a comfy, white leather couch. The office smelled of lavender scented candles, the mahogany wood accented the white orchids and furniture nicely. And the view of the Upper West Side wasn't half bad either.
