College Bums

Getting an Education but Looking Homeless

When it comes to college kids there are a lot of stereotypes. Then it's no surprise that another stereotype [is that college students are pretty much, let's face it, fashion bums!

You've seen them on campus (and in the mirror!). They roll out of bed, without managing to roll into the shower and then they roll to class, lunch, and even work! What gives? Why are we so sloppy in school? If anyone dare say it's because we are so overtly straining ourselves over our courses, please do not. Most people don't have a bladder than can withstand that kind of laughter. To say we cannot get dressed do to our studies, is well, a joke.

Think of it seriously. College students still find time to party. They even find time to chase after the opposite sex! If you've ever seen a bunch of college girls get ready for a party then you know that the reason we are bums during the day is not because we don't know how to be sexy or cute-- No, the reason is much deeper than that.

hahah, meant SWEATS...

just got an idea: what if a girl went 2 a party with "glam"
sweats, a "glam" hoodie, and heels plus heavy makeup? gee, thats a
good party look!
well, I'm not in college yet(few more months till freedom!)but in
high school, I see girls with heavy makeup AND sweats. It kind of
defeats the purpose. But, as anyone can see, the bum look is in.
Why they wear heavy makeup, I think it's to glam the seats
up.Yuck.
I couldn't disagree with this article more... Yes, you should
shower. That’s about hygiene... But that doesn't mean you can't
put on clean sweats and a hoodie right after. Some people
actually DON'T care about what others think of them unlike this
article seemed to portray. I don't think you should be telling
girls that it's not okay to go to class in anything they want. of
course I would hope that people are smart enough not to take the
advise of this article to heart or change their opinions on what
they should or should not put on in the morning.
I look at all of these girls that straighten their hair, and do
their make up and look ridiculously over dressed for their 8:30 am
classes. And let me tell you, those are the girls that party all
the time and are so self conscious that they cannot even imagine
walking out of the house (or dorm for this matter) looking
anything less that what they think is perfect.
The kids going to class in their sweats, they're the ones that
have been up all night studying or doing something productive, and
just don't care what others think of them or their clothing
options.
Also, sometimes it's not about laziness & or comfort.
I know that on the days I have early morning classes, I throw on
gym clothes and sweats over that b/c when I'm done with class I go
to work out.
I agree with you on the point that people who don't shower all day
and live in the same clothes for more than a 24 hour period are
just gross, but that doesn't come off as the intent of your
article here and I'm very disappointed.
Kiwibox is supposed to be a place to inspire and encourage girls
in positive ways. Not to make them into ditsy carbon clones of
each other.

Well since I am a commuter student I would disagree with this, I
spend as much time driving as I do in class! I welcome sweats as
long as they fit and are clean. Yeah I wear them to class but I
didn't wear them the night before. I don't look like I just rolled
out of bed.
i don't mind the sweatpants look...when i go to work i have to
wear a suit, so when i go to school why not wear something
comfortable...although i don't wear sweatpants, im more of a blue
jeans and t-shirt guy, but anyway i can't stand the people that
take 45 minutes or more just to go to one class or so i mean wtf
why would you want to do that...you can get an extra 45 minutes of
sleep if ya just roll outta bed and throw something on....:)
haha i will try to give it a shot!
Oh man, I could not agree more. I go to school in freezing cold
upstate New York, and as soon as the weather turns slightly cold,
all the girls break out their sweatpants, sweatshirts and Uggs and
think that's fashion. I don't get it. I always try to look my best
where ever I go because, hey, you never know who you're going to
be impressing. The bum look drives me insane!
Haha, nice article. I agree, the sweat pants and pj's should be
left at home when you're lounging on the couch. I could never
leave the house like that even for 2 hours of school! :P
