Day Four

Monday, Day Four, of New York's Fashion week was a party--no literally. Waiting on line for Betsey Johnson, as an audience member you are never sure what to expect; well except for a good time and an entertaining show filled with the amazing unique styles only Betsey can come up with. As we filed into the larger-than-life tent, what looked to be fiesta-colored Christmas lights hung jovially above the black runway. The lights went out and came back up to reveal Betsey's new fall/winter collection. Satin, knits and faux fur-lined pieces paraded down the runway.

Bright blues, reds and floral prints were everywhere! All of the sudden, the lights blacked again. A second later, all was bright as the models, sometimes two at a time, strutted and posed in retro-inspired pieces such as bathing suits from the 70s and mini-dresses and jumpers from the early 80s. Betsey was having a party and we were all invited. Celebrating thirty years of designing always original duds, favorite looks from the past were recreated and showcased once again. Betsey herself cart wheeled down the runway, when all was said and done, parading her young grandchild along with her. It was one party not to be missed.
