Valentine’s Day

Where did it come from?

We can tell it's coming. Jewelry commercials appear out of no where; candy hearts do a hostile takeover of the front aisle in every major drug store; and even the Verizon store looks like it threw up pink and white. Yup kids, love's biggest commercial holiday is upon us once again...Valentine's Day is here.

Some dread it, others are indifferent and then there are those sappy romantics, who have been planning for it since Christmas, whatever your general inclination to the day of "love" is, it is always fun to find out a little bit of history behind some of our society's more random holidays. Since we didn't have access to talking bears and little candy hearts that say "fax me" until at least the 1980s, where did Valentine's Day come from and more importantly how was it celebrated? Use these little history factoids to impress friends, teachers and even your parents!

hallmark season hunting or not, it's still one of my favorite
holidays. each day is supposed to be a reminder of love for love
ones but i think it's awesome that there's a holiday for it as
well as a lengthy history behind it.

i'm sorry if other people may disagree with this and complain
about not having a date. just make a day out with your friends or
little sister, it's still love!
hello.
