Although my ego was a little bruised from the previous days festivities, like a good little fashion reporter I soldiered on. And despite my sheepish outlook on Fashion Week (and now life, in general) Tuesday would turn out to be the best day so far.
We begin our adventure at the backstage entrance on the east side of Bryan Park, Tibi awaited and so did a possible interview with designer Amy Smilovic. We had heard rumblings around the tents that this would be the runway debut of the latest ANTM winner, Saleisha Stowers. We walked backstage and to be honest, I was disappointed. No clothes flying, no models bickering over who is wearing what, no underpaid assistants with cell phones glued to their ears yelling that their model won't get out of bed for less than ten grand, no, none of that, it was surprisingly calm.
Models were sitting quietly with other model buddies, reading and *gasp* eating, their hair in curlers and makeup already done just waiting for the moment to slip into the newest Tibi fashions. We waited our turn for an interview with Smilovic and she informed us that Tibi's Fall collection was London inspired, but not without staying true to it's roots in the BoHo genre.
What Smilovic did, and it's truly genius, was she paired an Asbury paisley dress and a red plaid coat achieving the best of both Tibi worlds. Utilizing winter weather fabrics like houndstooth, tweed, plaid, wool and corduroy Smilovic really sends her Tibi girl to London in style.
