With movies like Ocean's Eleven and Catch Me If You Can, I figured Mad Money would be another movie with an elaborate plan on how to get away with stealing money. And I thought it would be even better because it was three women getting away with stealing money, but the movie definitely didn't turn out the way I hoped it would.
Although I like Katie Holmes, Queen Latifah and Diane Keaton separately, I didn't think they had real chemistry in Mad Money. I felt like the director just cast three random women for the roles and hoped for the best.
The movie is about Bridget Cardigan (Diane Keaton), whose husband Don (Ted Danson) lost his job. Bridget is a house wife who now has to seek outside employment so that they can keep their house. Realizing that she has no real valuable skills, she ends up getting a job at the Federal Reserve as a janitor.
While shopping one day, Bridget realizes that she needs money and that working this low-paying job isn't enough for her, so she comes up with the idea of taking all the old money that is to be destroyed and keeping it for herself. While at work she convinces Nina Brewster (Queen Latifah) and Jackie Truman (Katie Holmes) to help take the money with her because they all work in different departments and this feat can only be accomplished if they all work together.
