If you thought that the word "indie" only referred to films and music, think again! That's right, there are indie-games making their way on to the scene as you read this!
An indie-game is a game that is unpublished and usually developed by an amateur but talented game-lover. What makes indie-games extra exciting is the fact that they're raw, new material. It's like discovering uncharted waters when a big company finds them! Just think of all the games that you have seen and played already versus the number of times that you have said, "Hey, wouldn't it be sweet if they had a game where you could (blank)?" That's exactly how indie-games are born.
If you want an idea of just how much potential indie-games have, consider this. Have you ever played a game called Narbacular Drop? Odds are that you haven't. Have you ever played or heard of Portal, a sleeper hit in 2007? Well, guess what. Narbacular Drop was the grandma version of Portal! It was developed in 2006 by a few undergraduate students and then recognized by Valve.
