The Spiderwick Chronicles is a movie based on a children's series written by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black. Although I have not read any of the books myself, people who have claim that the movie is pretty much nothing like the books. The same concepts and story lines/plots are used, but some of the main parts from the books are cut out of the movie. So for all you fans of the book series, be warned that this movie may not be what you were expecting.

Aside from the movie not being exactly like the books, the movie itself is impressive. The CGI animation is awesome; the monsters come alive right in front of our eyes. The story is about a recently divorced mother Helen (Mary-Louise Parker), and her three children who move into the old Spiderwick Estate. The older sister Mallory (Sarah Bolger) and her mischievous brother Jared (Freddie Highmore) are always fighting and arguing, while Jared's twin brother Simon (also Freddie Highmore) says he doesn't like to get into conflict. The original owner of the house was Jared and Simon Grace's great, great uncle Arthur Spiderwick.
