Down under she has already established success, here in the states she is lesser known, until now. Higgins' new album, On a Clear Night, released February 26, 2008, shuns the usual synthetic Britney pop, instead delivers a timeless storyteller approach with a number of unforgettable songs. The album is full of irresistible melodies with Higgins voice tugging at your heartstrings with the feeling that her voice and her heart have been there before.
Despite all the hoopla, surrounding her debut album Higgins says that she only felt a little pressure when it came time to write for her sophomore effort. The Sound of White, Higgins debut, which was released internationally in 2004 topped the ARIA charts at No.1 for seven weeks and was certified nine times platinum in Australia, making it the biggest selling album of 2005 and one of the most popular releases in the country's history. Higgins knew she had to be prepared to write and record her second album, so, she took some sound advice from music industry veterans.
"I started writing early, everyone kept telling me how hard it is to write for a second album because you are under such a tight schedule," she says. "On a Clear Night ended up being an album that I was and still am very proud of, it's the best work I have done yet."
