Research for this article proved a little annoying. Any search for "video game heroines" yielded results with pictures there were as appropriate to post here as any shot of Britney Spears exiting a vehicle. Since all but a small handful of female game characters are highly sexualized, it seems everyone has a favorite "hottie heroine." (Interestingly, a search for "handsome video game heroes" came up with zilch.) This is all well and good, but a freakishly distorted bust-to-hip ratio isn't going to help you slay those blood-hungry zombies any faster. Here, I rate female heroines by what really matters: their kill factor.

Okay, this one's an obvious choice for fanboys everywhere, but there's a reason for that. (Besides the daisy dukes. Well, hopefully.) Although Lara doesn't attack unless provoked, she's still a force to be reckoned with when one takes into account her dual pistols and killer aim.

Hey, here's a novel idea: a video game character that uses brains as opposed to brawn! Alyx Vance is a genius when it comes to electronics, making her as deadly as any gun-toting warrior.
