You have heard them all before. They seem like common sense and you're right. However, with the sun, the beach, the guys and the overall intoxicating atmosphere spring break destinations bring with them, it is easy to lose sight of what you should do and early warning signs that something is amiss. As young adults, we listen to the news and the freak stories and tell ourselves that that would never happen to us. We are too smart; too aware. They weren't thinking; they had too much to drink; they were in the wrong place at the wrong time. We are invincible, or so we unconsciously tell ourselves as we spend more time trying to keep our eyes open during the sixth spring break safety lecture. It is always the same, don't drink, don't have sex, never wander off alone--these tips seem like no-brainers, that is until we find ourselves being handed that fourth tequila shot from that ridiculously cute guy who just wants to take a short walk on the beach. We know we technically shouldn't, but he is a nice guy from a good college, what can happen in 15 minutes?

Unfortunately, names like Natalee Holloway, who disappeared during a trip to Aruba in 2005, and Andrew Guglielmi, the 19-year-old college student who died after falling off a hotel balcony, tell a different story of stupid split second decisions with fatal results. There will be no lecture, there will be no "don't ever do...," we have simply compiled a list of tips to help tailor spring break fun so that the only thing you regret is not bringing an extra bathing suit.
