It isn't something most think about. Probably because, and this is just me, I really don't want to have mental pictures of my parents or my grandparents, god forbid, getting wild and crazy during their beach vacations of the past. Along with the fact that we all tend to just accept the week off rather than ask questions, spring break could have been invented by Einstein for all we know. In lieu of no school, we decided to give you a small history lesson, since we know how much you miss them, enabling us to know who to properly thank for our week of total relaxation before finals.



It all start with...

A few rich kids. Well, technically before the turn of the century, college was only attended by those who could afford it--no scholarship opportunities yet. These students tended to be male from well-off families, since at that time most of the university had not become co-ed nor did colleges exclusively for women exist yet. To escape their academic pressures for a week, they would pack up and head to the shore on the closest body of water.
