American Idol: Top 12 Recap

If John Lennon wasn't turning in his grave for many past atrocities that have affected the Beatles legacy, he may have this past Tuesday night when American Idol got the rights to perform songs from the Lennon/McCartney songbook. While it wasn't a horrible night, overall many of the finalists still have yet to prove they deserve to be here. As of this recap, there's maybe four people who are good enough to eventually have a record deal, and the others are simply competing to fight for who will have the longest 15 minutes of fame.

You're So New
For this seventh season, we are treated to a new stage as well as new opening credits. I'll admit the credits are nice, nothing too exciting, but it's good to change things up once in a while so aspects of the show don't become too stale. However, while the stage itself is nice, one issue I have is the band being separated completely from the performer. Yes, I know the show is all about the singers, but having the live band behind them rather than on an above platform had a nicer feel to it.

No More Naming Favorites
Two weeks ago in the recaps, I claimed Asia'h Epperson would make the final five. She, however, was voted off the following week. Last recap, I said that David Hernandez was a strong performer and had a big enough fan base to make it through. He was this weeks elimination. There are two performers who I think are the best, but will no longer be stating who my favorites are for fear they will be the next kicked off. If I am a jinx however, then let me say here and now my favorite is David Archuleta.
