more from this author Super Smash Bros. BrawlNintendo (Wii) ![]() As a child of just six years old, I was a fan of two things: Godzilla movies and video games. When I stumbled upon the Toho film "Destroy All Monsters," I delighted in seeing all of the big time monsters going head to head in a battle royale of epic proportions. Mothra threw down with King Kong, Godzilla butted heads with Rodan and Ghidorah and Gigan took on Hedorah. Yeah, I remembered all those names without having to use Wikipedia. What now? Years later when Super Smash Brothers was released for the Nintendo 64, the excited child in my burst its way out. It was an all-star brawl done again, this time with the video game characters I grew up with. Of course, I was never very good at the game. I ran with a pretty hard crew of nerds who managed to pull off full combos with Fox and shot deadly accurate PK Thunders with ease. My strategy was mainly charge a wind-up punch with Donkey Kong, wait til everyone was grouped together, and clobber them all. Then I'd run away and repeat. ![]() Fortunately, the Smash Bros. games were made for people of all ability levels, and Super Smash Brothers: Brawl picks up where Melee left off. It’s surprisingly easy, especially with the Wiimote to pick up a controller and jump right in. The last fighting game that was this simple was Street Fighter II or maybe Rock ‘em Sock ‘em Robots. Of course, serious gamers will probably want to tap in with a Gamecube controller. Page 1 of 3 ![]() [1] [2] [3] |
