You always hear about these amazing fad diets that keep telling you to only eat pickles for a year or something equally bizarre. But you can't help but wonder, in what world would this work? Fitness magazine collected some pretty cool information however, on a new diet that isn't any kind of crazy fad that tells us to eat all of one thing or none of another, but instead lists many foods that offer beneficial qualities to your metabolism.

As told in Fitness magazine, Dr. Leo Galland is the man responsible behind the Fat Fighting Diet. Sure, "fat fighting" food sounds like some sort of gimmick, but Leo Galland is no quack. He is actually the director of the Foundation for Integrated Medicine in New York City and the author of the book, The Fat Resistance Diet. Great that he's not a lunatic with a stethoscope, but how in the world can there be a food that stops you from getting fat by eating it?

Actually, Dr. Galland scientifically explains his concept like this. Inflammation is the root cause of the problem. Doctors say, according to new research, that when your immune system is in over-drive, which is what happens during inflammation, it may lead to gaining weight and making losing it even more difficult. Inflammation stops the hormone leptin. Leptin is what controls your appetite and metabolism. When fat increases, so does leptin, and leptin tells the brain to speed up the metabolism and cut down on the appetite. When inflammation comes along, it messes up the levels of leptin, and the brain does not send out the signals that it needs to.
