This Spring had an abundance of styles displayed on the catwalk. Most seemed to incorporate a theme that could be described as African-Chic (and, no, not the played-out safari chic). Oscar de la Renta showed greens, creams, and crocodile belts. Marni, too, had more earthy colors and flower-adorning hats. Missoni had some printed blouses that would look great with denim shorts and espadrilles. And our favorite Italian duo, Dolce & Gabbana, showed lightweight-printed dresses and pants in muted colors, perfectly apropos for a late-night party with the wildlife.

This "African Chic" isn't like the old safari chic that we've seen over and over again; it is turned up a notch with tons of embellishment, prints, accessories and sky-high wedges. If you gathered together a horde of supermodels and flew them to the Savannah for an uber-chic party, they might wear something like that. For a less-expensive wardrobe but to achieve same-scale style, incorporate some of these pieces into your daily spring wardrobe....
