This may look familiar...
Originally introduced to the world as the Sheer Blonde Twins, Brit and Alex Smith are ready to shake that image. They have a good chance considering it has been a significant amount of time since they flashed their shiny blonde locks on televisions across the world. Back in the day you couldn't miss them--their commercial for John Frieda's products ran frequently, and the catchy jingle/song "Are You Ready" would be stuck in your head.
Several years later what fewer people know is that Brit and Alex's first and only passion has been music.
"Modeling was a fluke," says Brit. "We did it while we were in school; music was always the front runner."
At 17, Brit & Alex put modeling on hold in order to focus solely on their music careers. While attending high school in London, the girls co-wrote over 60 songs with various young producers. After graduating, they moved back to the States to Atlanta once they found out that producer Dallas Austin (TLC, Pink, Madonna, Gwen Stefani) had listened to their music and wanted to work with them.
"Dallas was the first person--the first major producer in America that we started working with," says Brit. "Everything we did with him was creative and inspiring and we were in the studio day after day and night after night sleeping on the floors and stuff."
