Two weeks have gone by since our last recap, and there's a lot to go over. We had our first guest mentor in the little form of Dolly Parton, an inspirational week of songs and giving back, and two idols voted out. There were tears of joy and sorrow, so let's skip introductions and go straight to taking a look at what went down.
David Archuleta: The Probable Winner
Dolly Parton seemed to love him during her week, as he sang "Smokey Mountain Blues." The performance wasn't horrible, but of course nothing can really stop this kid right now. He has the public backing of stars such as Miley Cyrus and former Idol Elliot Yamin. A shining moment did occur for him as well during Inspirational Night, choosing Robbie William's hit song "Angels." He has the fans and the praises from the judges, but there's still something about this kid I don't find interesting. Maybe it's the fact that he seems to act like a robot stuck in "golly gee whiz" mode, or the fact that he still hasn't acted his age. While it's understandable he has a mature voice, it would be nice to see a 17 year old sing and act like a 17 year old. A popular website where fans gather to discuss the show is the Survivor Sucks message board, where he not only has a large following of fans, but those who dislike him who have dubbed his fans "the Archtards." If you have strong skin, take a look at the boards to share in your love or hate for your fellow contestant.
