Guster’s Adam Gardner's non-profit greens today’s hottest concerts

As temperatures are rising and the sun is staying out a bit longer, music festivals like Coachella and Bonnaro are preparing their venues for concertgoers who are ready for fun, some sun and of course, the music. But what most people don't think about is all the energy and trash that piles up after one of these weekend fests. Enter Rerverb.

In 2004, environmentalist Lauren Sullivan and her husband, Guster guitarist and vocalist Adam Gardner, founded the non-profit organization that helps musicians transform their tours into more eco-friendly events and educates concertgoers about the environment. "The environment is on the forefront of everybody's mind right now," Gardner said during a Billboard interview for the magazine's Green Issue. "Our job is to keep it there until it's no longer a problem."

Modeled after Bonnie Raitt's 2005-2006 Green Highway tour, Reverb works with bands to find eco-friendly merchandise to sell at the shows, recycle stations placed in spots throughout the concert venue as well as ways to cut down on water, energy and, of course, trash. And with using biodiesel for transportation and generators, the organization has helped big artists such as Dave Matthews Band, The Beastie Boys, John Mayer and Kelly Clarkson.
