Vantage Point is a movie about the attempted assassination of the president of the United States, told from several different characters' perspectives. It is directed by Pete Travis and written by Barry Levy.
The whole movie is about telling the story through 8 different people, all of which have 8 different views of how the situation went down. The main characters are Thomas Barnes (Dennis Quaid), Kent Taylor (Matthew Fox), Howard Lewis (Forest Whitaker), Javier (Edgar Ramirez), Suarez (Said Taghimaoui), Veronica (Ayelet Zurer), President Ashton (William Hurt), and Enrique (Eduardo Noriega). All of these characters are somehow tied and associated with the event.
At first the movie was a little confusing as to what was occurring, as it kept flashing back to 12pm of the day of the attempted assassination. It took awhile to realize these were all of the peoples' different perspectives. It showed one character's story followed by the next, and as each perspective unfolded, the audience got more of an idea of what was going on and who was involved with the assassination.
Vantage Point had a lot of action, but it lacked story line. Although it was a good plot, we never actually know why they were trying to kill the president. We learn from the movie that a lot of the bad guys were trying to kill the president because they themselves were being blackmailed, but we never got an explanation as to why they were doing it, and who actually wasn't being blackmailed and wanted to kill the president.
