An Old Soul Sound with a New Twist

You always remember your firsts: first kiss, first love, first song...and your first record deal.

One of the first developing artists to be signed to Hear Music, Hilary McRae has the sound and the soul of her current label mates--her label launched by Starbucks and Concord Music Group whose roster includes Paul McCartney, Joni Mitchell and James Taylor.

At the tender age of 21, McRae has the chops of an old school music veteran, with a sound on her debut album Through These Walls that feels like it came out of the 1970's. Although, it was a time was before she was even born, McRae drenches her songs with vibrant rhythms, amazing horns and old school R&B. This writer/singer/pianist seems like she time traveled to 2008 from the era of Lennon, McCartney and Don Henley.

"I like a lot of stuff I really like music of the 70's," McRae says. "The Carpenters, Fleetwood Mac, Carole King, The Police and even some influences of today like Norah Jones and Alicia Keys."
