Years ago, I remember having classes in the fourth grade with my lab science teacher. She came in once a week on Tuesdays and lectured on how packaging is horrible for the environment, to bring canvas bags to the supermarket, and also about buying dolphin free tuna. It all sounded complex and corny at the time, but that was a decade ago!
Right now, going green is more fabulous than it is shabby. If you've been paying attention, celebrities have made it a new trend to care for the earth. Now, carrying a canvas bag that says "I am not a plastic bag" is in! There are many more ways to enjoy recyclable items, because fashion is starting to pick up the hint. One company in particular is really embracing this concept. That company is Passchal, a brand that makes bags and cases for various electronics out of the inner tubing of truck tires!
The brand was started by ex-welder, Ken Kobrick and Angela Greene. The recycling concept was very important to them. The only downside of all inner tubing designs was that they were super heavy! The two designers decided to use leather to lighten the weight of the bags, although it was against their original wishes. Now, though, many of the bags and items are available in faux leather instead. Another plus is that all the bags are hand crafted and made in the USA, which gives them something unique.
