If you're a fan of makeup then you probably recognized the mineral madness that's been going on in the beauty world lately. Every other channel is flashing a new kind of mineral makeup when you turn on the T.V. So what is all the rage really about? The term "mineral makeup" has a tendency to elicit an image of rocks that you rub on your face, which, technically speaking, is true.
People are mostly drawn to mineral makeup because the idea of the naturalness of it is alluring. It's said to be better for your skin, lighter to wear, and less stifling to your pores. However, according to Ben Kaminsky, pharmaceutical chemist and author of the book, Beyond Botox: 7 Secrets for Sexy, Ageless Skin, the main ingredients of mineral make up are the same as the ingredients of the same makeup women have been using for the past century. This may be true, but mineral makeup claims to be more natural, less removed from the original ingredients than other kinds of makeup. It contains no perfumes, talc, alcohol, dyes, mineral oil or preservatives--sounds like it belongs in the organic section of the supermarket!
