Four words. Don't expect too much. Seriously. If you keep this four-word mantra in the back of your mind, then Mariah Carey's latest album, E=MC2 is not a total disappointment, and can be enjoyed. Before I tell you why I say this, let me say that I am from the Mariah Carey, Backstreet Boys, 'NSync, and TLC generation, when you didn't have to pretend to like music that you secretly didn't, in order to fit in with the mainstream music taste. They were good times. Back then, Mariah Carey's music a little generic, but it was excusable because her voice was phenomenal.
The album has an overall ditzy vibe. "Touch My Body" was indeed the right track for the first released single for this album, because other than one or two songs on the album, there is an over all message that says: "Ooooo, I am so so hot, you will never be as hot nor shall you ever experience anyone hotter." It's a far step away from previous albums. It seems that Mariah Carey is still hasn't learned her lesson from "Glitter." However, even some of the lyrics for "Glitter"'s songs were better written than "Touch My Body." Mariah Carey does get credit for writing her songs though, but the quality of her lyrics are going down, and the rhymes are becoming less surprising.
