If you're short on cash this coming Mother's Day, don't fret too much. Odds are, you are not the only kid out there who has an extra light wallet. Instead of trying to please Mom with all the usuals, like flowers, perfume, or a certificate, get a little more creative! You know how girls make their boyfriends CD's with songs that make them think of him, and vice versa? Well, moms deserve that same kind of original affection!

This Mother's Day, make Mom a playlist that will make her cry (with happiness!). It will not make up for all the walls you might have scribbled on and all the times she had to chase you in the supermarket, but she will appreciate as much as anything else, because, well, it's what makes a mom, a mom. Here are a few songs to get you started. They might not make up for all the times your typical music might scare the daylights out of your mom, but they will put a smile on her face!

1. Dear Mama - Tupac

Who knew you could get your mom to listen to rap? This song is unconventional in the sense that it's a rap song, and though your mom may not be inclined to 50 Cent and Eminem, there is a good chance she will appreciate this song by the late Tupac Shakur. The chorus will be stuck in her head for weeks, but it will make her smile!

2. Thank You Mom - Good Charlotte

It's always a good idea to mix it up, so a Good Charlotte song brings an upbeat tempo to this mushy day for moms. Maybe you can even get her to stop calling them "punks" now!

3. I Want A Mom That Will Last Forever - Cyndi Lauper

This song from the same girl who sings, "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" lists all the qualities that we love our moms for. It's corny, but that's what Mother's Day is, isn't it? This song is also on The Rug Rats Movie soundtrack.

4. A Song For Momma - Boys II Men

This is the kind that will make you cry, so watch out, especially if you have the mom that cries every year on the first day of school because of "How fast you're growing up." It's especially perfect for as a song from a son to a mother.

Glad to see The Perfect Fan by the Backstreet Boys on the list...although I would have loved to see them place higher.
