The world of video games and technology seems to evolve faster than anything else. Here's a look back at just some of the innovations we wrote about over the past ten years.
1999
Fan Fiction Craze
Being able to pretend to be, or be with your favorite celebrity was the web craze going on back in the day. This just goes to show that some things never change, because hey, we still are a celebrity obsessed society! Only now, we link ourselves to our favorite celebs off of Myspace or just get closer to them through reality T.V!
2000
Super Smash Bros for N64
If your mouth fell open when you read this one, you're not the only one! Nintendo 64! It feels so long ago, that we wonder if it's some ancient reptile cousin of T-Rex, but alas, this goes to show that technology is the fastest evolving creature on the planet these days! In the world of X-Box, Dreamcast (remember those?), Playstations (1,2, and 3), and now Christmas sell out of Wii game systems, it's hard to even remember what a N64 looked like! However, not that Super Smash Bros is still timeless!
2001
Digital Cameras
Was there anything before? I mean, we know about portraits that people had to sit hours for, but what existed before digital cameras? 35mm? It sounds like a weapon, but really it's what we used before everyone and their mom (literally!) had a digital camera! Can you even remember the sound of film rewinding? Now, there's no second shot 'just in case' the first one didn't look good, and you save tons on printing, because most people use digital albums too.
2002
Online Shopping
Finally, it's for more than creeps in their basements building weapons of mass destruction! Now, rather than running out to the store, people really start getting used to the idea of buying EVERYTHING online, even clothes! The age of the shopping sites is born. First comes eBay, then Overstock and so forth! Are people still suspicious of online buying though?
