As Kiwibox looks back on its past this week, we take a look back into the archives to see what movies made waves on the Box in years past.
1999 - American Pie
Memories come rushing back when talking about American Pie. I was transitioning between middle and high school when it came out and it was the perfect R-rated flick to sneak into. Sophomoric humor, boobs and pie penetration made this the Porky's of a new generation.
2000 - Fight Club
Click this link if you want to see what a review is like from a writer who never watched the movie. Based on the Chuck Palahniuk novel of the same name, Fight Club starts off as not much more than Edward Norton and Brad Pitt punching each other, but becomes a mind-trippy nihilistic descent into something entirely different. It also contains the best use of a Pixies song in the history of the world.
2001 - Legally Blonde
Personally, I could never buy Reese Witherspoon as an Ivy League lawyer. It's kind of like when Denise Richards was a nuclear physicist in a James Bond flick (she's smart because she wears glasses, duh). But this movie has a huge fan following, big enough to spawn a sequel and a Broadway play.
