Prom Night

A review to die for.

Regardless of the plot, I will watch any scary movie that is in the theaters. So when I saw the premise for Prom Night, I wasn't expecting too much. I thought the plot seemed sort of scary since a deranged teacher was stalking a student and killing anyone who got in his way, but overall it seemed pretty stereotypical.

Prom Night is suppose to be a re-make of the original 1980's movie of the same name. Although most of us were probably too young to have seen it when it originally came out, the movie featured a then popular scream-queen Jaime Lee Curtis. It's surprising to find out that this PG-13 version is less gory than the original.

The story is about a girl named Donna (Brittany Snow), a sophomore in high school. When she returns home from watching a movie with a friend, she finds her little brother dead. She hears someone coming and hides under the bed. That's when she sees the deranged teacher throw her mother on the floor and kill her right in front of her eyes. The movie then goes back two years later. Donna is living with her aunt and uncle and getting ready for her prom night. That's when Richard Fenton (Jonathon Schaech) Donna's crazy teacher, breaks out of the insane asylum and comes to get her back.
