
You may know her as Mia, K-Fed's shy keyboardist who Peyton saved and signed to her record label on the hit show One Tree Hill. But Kate Voegele showed she was not the girl who's afraid to rock out like the best of them. Performing inside a packed Starland Ballroom in New Jersey on April 29, the 21-year-old singer-songwriter from Ohio walked onstage as if she were a seasoned pro. Opening for bubblegum-turned-indie band of brothers Hanson, Voegele didn't look intimidated by the diehard "MMMBop" fans.
After strapping on her guitar, Voegele and her band went straight into the first song, "I Get It." On her third album Don't Look Away, the song sounds like just another pop-rock concoction, but performed live, it took on a life of its own. Not only did the song captivate the audience, but it locked their attention on Voegele for the duration of her five-song set.
