more from this author Mushy Hallmark card? Check. Breakfast in bed? Check. An entire day of unadulterated bonding time with Mom? Hey now, let’s not go crazy. If you’re looking for a stress-free way to spend some quality time with Mom on Mother’s Day, rent one of these heartwarming movies. Note: Kiwibox bears no liability for resulting talks regarding birds and/or bees, life, or ensuing hugs. Okay, maybe hugs. Freaky Friday (2003)Revisit LiLo’s more innocent days with one of the most fun mother-daughter flicks ever. Tess Coleman (Jamie Lee Curtis) and her daughter Anna (Lindsay Lohan) can’t see eye-to-eye on anything – whether it’s guys, music, or clothing, the two are constantly feuding. After a particularly nasty fight in a Chinese restaurant, they receive fortune cookies that somehow cause them to switch bodies the next day. With a newfound respect for what the other has to go through on a daily basis, they have to figure out a way to switch back, lest they be prisoners in each other’s bodies forever. Yikes. Steel Magnolias (1989) Beauty parlors have always been the ritualistic bonding grounds for females of all ages, especially in small towns. Steel Magnolias examines the lives and relationships of the women who regularly gather at one such beauty parlor in Louisiana. We get to see the progression of Shelby’s (Julia Roberts) marriage from day one, we see the shy, anxious newcomer Annelle (Daryl Hannah) morph into a party girl, and we watch the parlor’s owner, Truvy (Dolly Parton) struggle with in her relationships with men. Serial Mom (1994)This John Waters cult favorite is about a picture perfect suburban mother with a tendency to fly into a murderous rage when nobody’s looking. Beverly (Kathleen Turner) is willing to defend her family no matter what it takes, from running over her son Chip’s (Matthew Lillard) math teacher to tearing her daughter Misty’s (Ricki Lake) rude boyfriend’s liver out with a fireplace poker. Watch this one with a mom who doesn’t mind a little blood, guts, and poor taste every now and again. Page 1 of 2 ![]() [1] [2] |
