One day, she accidentally meets Prince Henry, who stands next in line to inherit the throne of France. Later, she meets him again, only this time disguised as a courtier and attempting to set free a servant who was sold to pay off the evil step-mother's taxes. After a brief conversation, Henry becomes intrigued with her and, not recognizing her, asks her for her name. Flustered, she gives him her mother's name: Nicole de Lancret.Eventually Danielle, still known as Nicole, and Henry fall in love, but they are up against the ruthless Baroness (the step-mother) and her spoiled daughter, Marguerite, who are determined to see that Marguerite become Henry's bride. However, with the servants, Danielle's kind step sister, Jacqueline, and Leonardo Da Vinci on Danielle's side, Danielle and Henry's love is able to survive until we see them come together to live happy 'ever after.'
Ever After can be watched as a family, but I personally believe that it is more of a "chick-flick." Your mother will love it and, if you've never seen it, then why not watch it together? This movie is guaranteed to make both you and your mother smile. Oh, and yes, Henry does eventually end up being told that her name is not really Nicole!
