Looking at some of the more popular video games out there, it's hard not to notice most of these are based on popular movies and television shows. It makes sense that these are big sellers, since fans of a movie or show will want access to as much media as possible. We've had games based on various media to have huge success, from The Simpson's Game to Spider-Man to Star Wars. So what big franchises are long overdue for a first or updated game of their own in this high definition next generation world? There are plenty out there, and there are so many possibilities that can make for a win-win situation for both the companies and fans.
Cloverfield
Okay, so it had mixed reviews, but Cloverfield was a personal favorite movie of mine so far. How awesome would it be to play your own version of the movie? For those who may have yet to see, this may include slight spoilers, so be warned! Now, picture this: you're walking the escape route out of NYC after the first big attack, and now it's your turn to create some characters and have switch between first and third person viewing of your own escape from the city. Can you and your friend successfully evade the Cloverfield monster? Can you walk through the city without being attacked by hordes of the smaller creatures? Or will you succumb? Millions of possibilities would be available allowing you for multiple game play if only game developers would happen to read this article and take the idea. With royalties, of course.
Jurassic Park
So there have been plenty of games out there based on the series, but none have been introduced since the release of Jurassic Park III almost 10 years ago. It's time to take a trip back to Isla Nublar or Isla Sorna to take a look at these creatures. Better yet, at the end of the third movie, we saw the Pterodactyls flying next to the helicopters, so why not bring the game closer to home? Perhaps a cargo ship went missing near the islands, and suddenly washed up along the U.S. coastline with various dinosaurs that need to be hunted and captured. Play as Tim or Lex from the movie, now all grown up and studying archeology themselves, and team up with a group of heroes to track down beasts from a Stegosaurus to Tyrannosaurus to get them back to their natural habitat safely. Or at least, one could dream of a game like this.
