 Last summer when Lil Mama asked, “Whatchu know ‘bout me?!” in her beat-stompin’, radio-dominating hit “Lipgloss”, the answer was, well, not that much. It seemed like the pint-sized MC came up out of nowhere overnight, making many of us feel a little more secure about our lip-moisturizing obsession, or causing us to start new ones. But with the release of her debut album, Voice of the Young People, we finally get to learn more about Lil Mama. And it seems like she has no problem with sharing.
Lil Mama makes it clear from the get-go that she’s more than just an expertly glossed mug. “Lip Gloss” eases us into the album, but once “One Hit Wonder” comes on, there’s no turning back. In this song, Lil Mama is raps harder, grittier, and – Angrier? This is no candy-coated joyride; Mama wastes no time reppin’ her hometown, Brooklyn, and asserting that she’s not going anywhere anytime soon. No arguments there.
“Shawty Get Loose”, featuring Chris Brown and T-Pain will make you want to do just that. This bass-heavy, quick rhyming song seems custom built for blasting at a club, and rightfully deserves a spot on any dance playlist this summer.

I originally downloaded'Lipgloss' to annoy a girl I work with and ended up downloading some others. I really like her and want the album.
