With four Idols left, we were given a special theme of "Rock and Roll Classics". The Top Four is always a tricky night, because it's when the audience gets a little iffy in terms of the voting. Sometimes, as seen in instances such as season five, Anthony Federov was voted off as powerhouses Carrie, Bo, and Vonzell stole the show. In other upsetting instances, favorites were voted out when fans assumed they were safe, and hence the birth of the term "Tamyra'd". Being Tamyra'd means getting voted out even when you're clearly one of the best, Tamyra Gray, Constantine Maroulis, and Chris Daughtry all were considered some of the best who didn't win or make it farther than they did in the competition. Which season would this one take after? Would one of the David's get Tamyra'd, or would we actually see the worst performer get sent home and offer us an amazing finale night?
David Archuleta - The Aiken
David is David. That's the nicest thing I can say about him. I still don't understand the love that many have for this kid, but he's popular and will most likely be claiming a record deal regardless of what happens. He sang an over praised version of "Stand By Me" before attempting to serenade the ladies with an Elvis Presley song. The judges love him, the fans love him, but if we were going to compare this season to another, this would no doubt be relatable to season two. David Archuleta is extremely comparable to Clay Aiken, in that he will go on to be singing ballads and campy pop songs. He also will most likely have a huge fan following, who on the internet has dubbed themselves The Arch Angels, while unfortunately having a group that mocks him relentlessly. This is something that will come with the price of fame, but can little David handle the pressure? He already looks like he's going to pass out every time he sings because of nerves and Ryan Seacrest even mocked him for this. No matter what, Archuleta should be fine in advancing to the finals.
