Back in the 90's, Robyn was the Swedish pop princess with an R&B vibe, churning out hits like "Do You Know What It Takes" and "Show Me Love." After her 1997 U.S. debut Robyn is Here, it seemed that Robyn went into hiding. Turns out, she was really rising to mega-star status in Europe. Finally, she's back in the U.S. with a new self-titled album, the first release off her record label Konichiwa Records.
It's obvious that Robyn has really matured on this record with songs that show what this songstress is really feeling. Decked out with amped beats and shake-your-booty tempos, the album deals with topics like losing love, never having a chance with it and dumping a guy because you know he's a bum. I don't think Robyn is carrying a load of angst on her back, but she definitely shows that she's a self-aware woman who tells it like it is.
