The Indoor Workout
Written by: Meghan G., Reporter – Posted: Tue May 13th, 2008
Who says playing video games is bad for your health? With the release of Nintendo's Wii Fit game on the horizon, American gamers are in for a high tech workout. Since we have to wait till the end of the month to get a copy while European and Japanese players are already stepping up on the Wii Balance Board, here's a list of other games to get you up off the couch in the meantime.

Dance Dance Revolution series

Alright, so it's not real dancing, but this simulation game is sure to work up a sweat as you groove. The rules are simple: stand on a mat with four directional buttons. When the upward scrolling arrows reach the top, tap the corresponding button with your feet. Sounds easy right? Just wait till you get past beginner. With multiple difficulty levels and a variety of songs ranging from disco to Japanese pop, it's easy to keep up the rhythm. Choose from close to a dozen domestic releases for the Playstation 2, Wii, Xbox 360, and even a special Mario Mix for the Gamecube. Most versions include a Workout Mode, which counts the calories you burn while playing. If you get really good, take your show on the road to the arcade machines.
