It has claimed the lives of millions and with a fast-paced onset and unnoticeable symptoms it is known as a "silent killer." Angelina Jolie and Barack Obama have lost mothers to it and Real World star Diem Brown is only one of many celebrities still in her battle. Carmen Marc Valvo, noted fashion designer who has dressed the likes of Kate Winslet and Catherine Zeta-Jones, may not know what it is like to survive ovarian cancer, but as one who has defeated an equally as fatal colon cancer, he can emphasize with the struggle of these women.

Maybe that's the reason he teamed up with Ovations for the Cure for Ovarian Cancer a non-profit organization fighting this deadly disease through awareness and research support. Together they created and successfully executed The Sisterhood: Taking a Stand with Style Fashion Show & Luncheon: a preview of Valvo's Fall 2008 line at a luncheon in Massachusetts. The event occurred on May 9th to raise money for their cause and to generate future funding for medical research.
