Beyond opting for wheat over white on occasion, I'm not much of a health nut. So to compensate for round one of my grueling Wii Fit workout, I ate two Chihuahua-sized burritos before setting up the Wii balance board. Hey, you need fuel to perform.
Fortunately, the Wii Fit was made for people like me who lack the time/money/motivation/stylish spandex ensembles to actually get a gym membership. Your virtual trainer won't belittle you, and you don't have to worry about bumping into Muscle Milk chugging gymrats. A quality workout in the comfort of your own living room? Sign me up!
Once you sync your Balance Board, your hefty motion-sensitive workout platform, you create a profile for yourself with your Mii. After plugging in your basic information (height, age, etc), you'll learn your BMI and Wii Fit age (according to the game, I'm 48). From there, you can decide how much weight you want to lose during the course of your training, and the game will tell you whether or not this is a healthy goal.
From there, you're on your own to choose exercises from four categories: Aerobics, Balance Games, Yoga, and Strength Training. You'll notice right away that this whole staying balanced thing is a huge deal. Every exercise you do gets scored, and most of the score is based on the balance you maintain while doing the exercise. This ensures that you're doing it correctly. If you do well, you'll unlock exercises of varying difficultly levels from any of the categories.

I like the way this article broke down all the different ways in
which the Wii can help you learn about and improve your health.
